You've got the website. The logo. The LLC. Maybe even a gorgeous set of business cards and a social media calendar.

Congratulations! You're officially an entrepreneur.

There's just one little problem. Nobody's buying.

In this episode of The Intentional Next Act, I'm sharing one of the biggest mistakes new entrepreneurs make: starting with HOW before getting clear on WHY, WHAT, and WHO.

And trust me, I learned this lesson the expensive way.

After investing more than $50,000 in coaching, courses, certifications, tools, and business-building education, I discovered that being busy building a business doesn't necessarily mean you're building something people want to buy.

I'm sharing what I wish I'd known earlier, including the time I invested in creating an entire training program that sold absolutely nothing.

What we're talking about

  • Why starting with HOW can cost you time, money, and customers.

  • The importance of building your foundation in the right order: WHY → WHAT → WHO → HOW.

  • Why being great at something doesn't automatically mean you should build a business around it.

  • The difference between social media activity and an actual business strategy.

  • How perfectionism and constant learning can keep you from making sales.

  • Five questions to answer before investing more time or money.

  • Why keeping your paycheck while testing your business idea can be your biggest advantage.

Your one intentional hour challenge

Before you build another website page, purchase another course, or create another Canva graphic, spend one hour answering these questions:

  1. What do I want this business to do for my life?

  2. What skills, knowledge, or experience do I have that someone else might value?

  3. Who specifically needs what I have?

  4. What problem can I help them solve?

  5. How do I know someone will pay for that solution?

Then find one potential customer and have a conversation. No pitch. Just listen.

The big takeaway

Clarity before creation.

Your business doesn't need a website before it needs a purpose. It doesn't need a social media strategy before it needs a customer.

You don't have to quit your job, drain your savings, or spend $50,000 figuring this out.

Build before you bounce. Because options create freedom.
